Listening IELTS: Learn then Grab a Good Score!

Is it possible for upgrading listening score? With a lot of practices, the answer is going to be yes! Test taker who does regular practice will increase his or her concentration in catching the words. His or her ear will also be trained as time goes by.

In listening IELTS, there will be four sections that must be completed by test taker. In the first section, test taker listens to a conversation between two people. The conversation will be about everyday life context. The example topic of this section is a conversation in accommodation agency.
In the second section, test taker deals with a monologue in everyday social context. The example topic of this section is a speech about local families.

In the next session, test taker listens to a conversation between up to four people which is set in an educational or training context. The example of this section is a university tutor and student discussing an assignment.

The last section is in the form of a monologue on an academic subject. The example of this section is a university lecture.

Besides, there are some additional learning activities for test taker to improve his or her listening achievement.
  • Watching movies
Test taker could pause after watching the movie every five minutes. Test taker should train his or herself to jot down the dialogues. Furthermore, test taker should train his or herself in understanding all the happenings for the time duration that has been determined previously.
  • Listening to music
Test taker could train his or her skill especially in catching the pronunciation of native by listening to music. Some different music everyday will also enrich test taker’s bank of vocabulary.
  • Watching video via YouTube
Video from YouTube is another great choice to improve listening skill. The same method applied in song and movie can also be used here.

Above all, test taker will not feel so stressed by only practicing the real form of listening IELTS. He or she can combine that kind of practice with some enjoyable activities as well. Enjoy your study then grab a good score!
