Cause Solution Essay: The inequality between rich and poor nations

Posted On //

Selamat membaca:

The inequality between rich and poor nations is now wider than it has ever been before. What do you think are the main causes of this difference and what do you think can be done to reduce the gap? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

One of the main causes for this huge gap is the education sector. That is to say such sector in developed countries is designed well with internationally recognized standardization while the one in underdeveloped ones is more often neglected. For example, in Finlandia, there is a board that measures students’ performance called PISA, the Program for International Student Assessment. How does it work? This attempts to figure out whether students can apply what they have learnt at school to real-life situations, acquiring social and emotional skills of students, and such a program has led this country to have better income economies with high development human index based on OECD, while in Nigeria since their declaring their independence, the education policies have not been set yet. This is what makes underdeveloped countries lag behind the wealthy ones as they still suffer from poverty as in conjunction with poor education

What can be done to tackle this? As better education is a play an important role in human, social, and economic development of a country, putting to much concern on teacher development is a must. This is because a good teacher helps students to become good human beings in the society and good citizen of the country. Not only this, they can solve the global learning crisis and close the gap between poor and good quality education. For example, when Finland’s education system fell behind in the 1970s, the government started to reform the teacher training system where all teachers would be sent to master’s level with the same high-level standardization of teacher training, and this has resulted in Finland having successfully narrowed down a wide disparity to the UK  in socio-economy background.

Make sure that you EAT YOUR BREAKFAST properly so you will have the strength you need to take almost-4-hours IELTS test. Remember that your test needs your focus and stamina so without eat a good food and drink, how could you do well on your test?

2. Arrive early, so you will have all the time you need. To prepare, and also to take a deep, long breath :) You should arrive early for your IELTS test in order to allow time for you to register and be seated for the test. Please refer to your booking confirmation for details. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to take the test.

3. Bring your ID. It can be your passport or national ID according to identification that you provided in IELTS application form. If you do not have the correct identification document, you will not be able to take the test.

4. Bring stationery. Pens ? Pencils ? Eraser ? Take the stationery you need to stay comfort on test but not too much.

5. Check-in your personal items. No personal items to be taken into the test room. Test day staff will collect and safely store your personal belongings. Items which are forbidden from the test room include: mobile phones, hand-held computers, cameras, hats, scarves, wallets, books or notes.

6. Listen to test's supervisor carefully. If you have anything to ask, raise your hand.

7. If you have problems during your test, do not hesitate and raise your hand. Remember that your test's supervisor is there to support and assist you.

8. Stay calm. Everybody has their own way to keep calm, there are people that walking around and around to make themselves calm. Some may have to listen to the music for calming down. Do whatever make you calm, but do not disturb the others.

Guessing Strategy in IELTS

Posted On //

Unlike other standardized tests, in IELTS, there is no penalty given for getting a wrong answer. When you have no idea about the answer, you can keep trying to answer as it will give you 20 until 25% chance of getting right answer. So, guessing is a thing that could give positive contribution for you as well. However, it should be noted that guessing in IELTS may not be done carelessly. There should be some considerations that are taken to have a meaningful guessing.

There are some specific guessing techniques that you can apply.
1. Slang
It is better for you to choose an answer which sounds scientific than slang ones. For example,
A. To evaluate the outcomes of the two different kinds of treatment.
B. Because some objects insisted on getting one or the other of the treatments.
As choice A sounds more scientific compared to B whenever you should guess, pick A as the answer.

2. Extreme statements
You should avoid choosing a controversial choice as your answer. Pick an answer which is calm and rational. For example,
A. Abortion should be banned completely.
B. Though it has a lot of benefit, many doctors have suggested their patients not to take abortion as a merely way out for the unwanted pregnancy.
Choice B is better to take than A because it is less controversial. There is another consideration stated in this option as well.

3. Similar answer choices
When you find two answers which are almost the same, there is a big tendency that one of those answers is the right one. For example,
A. Use polyunsaturated cooking oil instead of other cooking oil.
B. Use polyunsaturated cooking oil is not even better than other cooking oil.
These two choices are almost the same, so there is a big opportunity that one of it is the correct answer.

4. Hedging
If you are dealing with a question about the conclusion, you can look for critical ‘hedge’ phrases such as likely, may, can, will, often, generally, mostly sometimes, etc. You could pick the answer which uses one of the above phrases. It will be better for you to avoid answer with phrases such as exactly, and always.

Still, you need to remember that being sure for the answer is always better than putting your selves in a “grey area” by guessing for the answer. But if you really need to guess, then guess in a smart way of guessing.

To be a successful test taker, he or she has to make a good preparation by doing a lot of practices before taking the test. Yes, ‘be ready’ seems to be an obvious thing to achieve a good score. The meaning of ‘ready’ here does not mean that test taker has to go abroad previously. The words ‘be ready’ cover the awareness of the test taker on the form of the test it self, including its timing and instruction. Even, there is no guarantee for someone who has lived abroad to be able to get high score automatically. Well, test taker may not think this test is ‘piece of cake stuff’ then does not check the form of it at all.

Apalagi tentang Speaking 2 IELTS ?

IELTS Kampung Inggris Pare

  1. “ I would like to talk about…” or “I have chosen to talk about …”
  2. “I would be very pleased to tell you about XYZ.” “I have been asked to speak about XYZ, including A, B, and C,”

Predicting what is in the passage of reading IELTS

Posted On // Leave a Comment
The problem that most of test taker deal with in reading IELTS comes from fear that they have even before they start reading the whole passage. Reading IELTS will be academic text which is sometimes not really familiar for test takers. In this case, you need to remember that being panic does not give you anything. Now, let us learn on how to predict what is the passage in the reading section is about.

Reading passages are only text. They have some items in every passage such as titles, paragraph headings, sub-headings, italicized or bold type, pictures, diagram and other visual information, and tables and charts. You can use these items to have ‘smart guessing’ on what kind of information that the passage is going to give. For example, when you see a picture, you can ask yourself some questions such as:

  1. What is happening?
  2. Who is doing it?
  3. Where is it taking place?
  4. Why is it being done?
  5. What is needed to do it?
  6. What other things do I know about this?

You can try to ask such kind of questions to help you get the prediction. You will be more confident in answering questions and finding the information in the passage because you are using your prior knowledge to help you. Actually, that is the thing we do every day every time we read something. However, it should be noted that for answering the section of T/F/NG, you need to be very careful because may take a wrong answer when you merely use your prior knowledge. Remember that prior knowledge should only be a kind of help for you to predict what is the passage is about. Still, you need to check the answer from the reading passage.

As your daily exercise, you can try to read English newspaper. You can write some questions about a newspaper article after looking at the headings and pictures. Then, find out whether you can find the answer in the passage.

Rahasia Pilihan Kata - 1

Posted On // Leave a Comment

“Let’s see a movie.”

“Let’s see that movie.”

Kunci Sukses Public Speaking

Posted On // Leave a Comment

Kita sering menghabiskan waktu berpidato sambil mencoba mengesankan audiens. Pastikan mereka memahami setiap langkah presentasi anda.

Teliti audiens anda

Perbanyak penggunaan kata kunci: "you".
